Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer is responsible for partnering with the sales team on the technical review of the customer’s product/package application with the objective of improving our competitive advantage. This role involves review of bid documents, performing design calculations, planning, preparing RFQs for vendor quotation for outsourced items, costing, preparation of technical and commercial proposal to support sales team, participate in technical meetings with client. Expected areas of experience is Oil and Gas projects/ Produced water treatment (PWT)/ Gas Sweetening Unit(GSU), Gas Dehydration Unit(GDU), Dew Point Control, Fuel gas treatment, and NGL Recovery Unit. The Application Engineer promotes the sale of the Division’s products which requires an abundance of engineering knowledge and expertise to make judgments and provide consultation regarding applications, installations, and economic considerations. The Application Engineer plays an integral role in assisting the sales team close sale order with client and is typically on a incentive plan based on team results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities should be listed in the order of importance/majority of time spent.

 

  1. Review of ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents for scope of work and client/ project specification for the project. Based on technical evaluation prepare technical queries and develop the various process/mechanical deliverables such as PFDs/UFDs, P&IDs, Datasheets, Valve MTOs, review bid 3D model in-line with client specification requirement for meeting customer requirements and bid submission to client as part of the technical
  2. Perform preliminary process simulations and process design calculations (Line Hydraulic/ Pump Calculations, Equipment Sizing, Control valve sizing, PSV Sizing), process optimization of scheme, sizing & selection of pumps, blowers, heat exchangers,
  3. Involved in preparation of various process engineering such as PFDs+HMB, P & I Diagrams, Process Datasheets, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Process control/shutdown philosophies,adequacy checks. Familiar with HAZIP/ HAZOP/SIL Studies and reports and Operation & maintenance manuals, etc. and providing necessary engineering inputs to the other departments (IDC’s)
  4. Preference shall be made to candidates with hands on experience on ProMax/ Aspen Hysys/ HTRI software.
  5. Preparation & Issue of RFQ’s, evaluation of vendor’s quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis etc
  6. Compilation of vendor quotations for costing
  7. Analyze customer requirements and illustrate how company solutions can provide value and support their organization.
  8. Recommend modifications to standard designs and products to meet individual customer requirements, within regulatory, practical and economic limitations.
  9. Anticipates and answers client/sales questions on product functionality/usage, application inquiries, and appropriate product recommendation in a timely manner.
  10. Assists customers with troubleshooting problems, handles customer complaints, and solves problems in a prompt, professional manner
  11. Collaborates and transfers technical knowledge with other team members
  12. Supports implementation of improved work processes to maximize efficiency and for continued improvement of proposals team.
  13. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

     

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a reputed professional institute / university
  • Required 6 - 10 years of relevant experience in Oil, Gas and Water Industry with hands on experience in Produced water Treatment / Process Gas treatment units like Gas Sweetening, Gas Dehydration, Dew Point Control or NGL Recovery
